Texas ban on diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • Over 60 academic staff terminated at UT, Austin (4.3% Black/Af Am) alone.
  • It is not enough to drop off our students in College. We need to provide support: academic, financial and emotional.
  • Far east students are welcomed by their grad students and faculty members.
  • White students have a strong support network from high school, alumni, and faculty, and finances.

Scholarships

  • For Kenyan American or fresh Kenyans.
  • Lower the cost hurdle for education and student loan debt.
  • Balance bereavement fundraiser efforts with investing in our youth.
  • Pledge of $2500 on benevolence/will. See life insurance:
    • Recommend minimum $100,000 life insurance.
    • Out of $9,000 personal benevolence pledge $2,500 to scholarship and decline $7,500 back to benevolence.
  • Corporate matching and tax deduction?

Loans (Forgivable and non-forgivable)

  • Provide Kenya students with Loans similar to Federal student rate of 5.5%, and select forgiveness: case-by-case.
  • Partial collection would partial replenish the funds.
  • Potential donor list. When candidates vetted, each donor could decide how much to contribute.
  • Donor could even select friend/relative, and be 100% donor (hidden). The student would work hard and feel obligated to repay.

Texas A&M University

3% Black students. The President and over 40 university faculty fired. Strong message that diversity will not be cultivated or welcomed.

Texas needs 51,000 more engineers by 2028.

Some individuals are pushing A&M initiatives.

  1. Scholarships could result in instate tuition.
  2. Texas A&M Engineering and Collin College (Dallas county Community college)
  3. New innovation 1-2 years: Students admitted to the Engineering Academy at Collin College are Texas A&M engineering students co-enrolled at Texas A&M University in the College of Engineering and at Collin College. Mathematics, science and core curriculum courses through Collin College taught by Texas A&M faculty.
  4. Save $9,000/yr in-state and $34,000/yr out-of-state.
